Skydiving is one of the most thrilling experiences you can have in your lifetime. Imagine reaching speeds of up to 120 mph as you leap from an aeroplane—this adventure is truly not for the faint-hearted. Parachuting, or skydiving, offers a unique way to descend from the heights of the sky to the earth below.

The excitement begins with a breathtaking free fall from 13,000 feet, where you can reach speeds of up to 190 km/h. You'll feel the exhilarating force of gravity before your parachute opens, smoothly slowing your descent to around 20 mph. As you glide back to the ground, you'll experience an incredible sense of freedom and achievement.

Although the idea of skydiving can be daunting, the experience itself is often less intimidating than it seems. You'll find that the rush of adrenaline leaves you wanting more, eager to take the plunge again!

Types Of Skydiving

Tandem Skydiving:

Tandem skydiving offers an exhilarating adventure where two individuals jump together from an aeroplane, securely connected by harnesses during the entire fall. In this experience, one participant is positioned above the other, with their back against their instructor. A trained instructor will guide you throughout the jump, allowing you to soak in the stunning views without the need to manage the parachute.

The key distinction between tandem and solo skydiving is the level of involvement: in tandem skydiving, you play the role of an active passenger, while in a solo jump, you take charge and handle the parachute yourself.

Static Line Parachuting:

Static-line parachuting is a type of skydive in which the parachute automatically opens once the jumper leaves the aircraft, eliminating the freefall aspect. This method uses a cord, known as a static line, to connect the parachute deployment bag to the plane. As the jumper exits, the static line pulls the deployment bag from the aircraft, inflating the parachute as the jumper descends.

Originally created for military paratroopers, static line skydiving has also been adapted and used to train civilians.

How old do you have to be to Skydive in the UK?

The minimum age to skydive in the UK is 16 years old. If you are under 18, you will need consent from a parent or legal guardian.

British Skydiving, the UK's national governing body for the sport, establishes these age restrictions for safety reasons. The requirement is based on the individual's ability to assess the risks involved in parachute descents.

There is no maximum age limit for skydiving, but participants must be reasonably fit and healthy. You will also need to complete a medical form, such as the BPA Medical Form 115A, upon arrival.

Booking Your Skydiving Experience

If you’re ready to face your fears, you can purchase a Gift Voucher for a specific experience or select one with a cash value. Unless stated otherwise, these vouchers are usually valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. After 12 months, they are no longer usable.

If you need more time, you can extend the voucher’s validity for another 12 months by paying a small fee—£10 for vouchers worth less than £100 and £20 for those worth over £100. Just keep in mind that if the price of the activity increases after you buy the voucher, you’ll need to pay the new price. Some vouchers might not be able to be extended, which will be noted on the voucher itself.
