About the experience

Get groovy with a gyrocopter as you experience the unique sensation of flying in an open cockpit. Although it will take a little while to get used to the fresh breeze on your face, many passengers often say they love being up close and personal with nature and the weightlessness that comes with these types of aircraft. These unusual looking planes tend to sneak under the radar as flying experiences go, but once you try it you’ll never go back. Granted, they look a bit funky looking and are often described as the ‘motorbike of the skies’ but they actually possess a canny skill that very few aircrafts have. Fitted with an unpowered rotor that’s in free rotation, this allows the vehicle to develop lift as it uses a rotor disc with the air flowing forward to make it rotate. After spending a few minutes in the gyro, you’re bound to fall in love with these planes that give the unique feeling of fresh air on your face whilst flying. Without the restrictions of a cockpit, the views surrounding you will feel like they’re within touching distance as you graze over Hampshire. You’ll be glad to know that all the equipment and flying suits are provided, alongside an experienced instructor who will be offering you the chance to take the controls should you be feeling adventurous. If you’re keen to try something new and hop on board a flying experience like no other, this is the perfect package for you.

Steve Boxall is almost certainly the most experienced gyroplane pilot and instructor in the UK and is a great guy too! Really kind, calm and reassuring, gave a super flight from this buzzing, friendly airfield (always busy with some fascinating aircraft movements). If you've not been in a gyroplane it is simply amazing - it does things you cannot do in a fixed wing and is amazingly stable and very safe when handled well. The first flight will never be forgotten - a breathtaking, joyous experience. You won't stop smiling for days! The view from the open M16 is unsurpassable and you are right in nature - you can even smell the crops and bonfires. Steve will let you fly it (actually it pretty much flies itself!). In terms of bangs for bucks it cannot be beaten (and as this was a present from my aircraft-phobic wife I was most grateful for her bucks and she was happy that the bangs were metaphorical!) I'll certainly be back for more when I get the time.
